1. Charlotte’s Web (2006)
This screen adaptation of E.B. White’s award-winning novel by Gary Winick is loads of family fun. It’s close to Christmas time on the farm, and the animals are reluctant to befriend Wilbur, the pig that’s destined to become Christmas dinner for the farmer and his family. Charlotte, the resident barn spider, decides to formulate a plan to save Wilbur from his grisly fate.
Julia Roberts plays the role of Charlotte, lending her voice to the friendly character. The movie features real-life animals with animated mouths creating the dialogue. It’s astounding how the trainers got the animals to behave and play their roles, and we wonder how much time it took to coordinate the set before shooting.
Charlotte’s Web is a must-see kid’s movie the entire family will enjoy, regardless if you’ve read the novel or not. After the film finishes, speak to your kids about the importance of communication and why it matters.
